I was growing up an hour drive from Rijeka, a Croatian principal seaport and its third-largest city. But in my 28 years, I never went to the city center of Rijeka. We passed it every time we went to the seaside but never visited it. The previous weekend we had a theatre show in Rijeka and me and my brother went to Rijeka a few hours earlier to go around the city. I must say I was not impressed.
It’s a nice city with big Riva but everything else didn’t wow me. A lot of buildings are nice but they look abandoned like nobody restores them. Maybe all looked a little bit more gray and unattractive because we were there on a cloudy afternoon. Or we just didn’t visit the right places. But still, Rijeka has some nice corners as you can see in the photos below.
