Scottish Diary | 14 May 2017

After delicious poached eggs for breakfast, we headed to Loch Lomond to the charming village Luss on the largest coast of the inland stretch of water in Great Britain. We were lucky because the sun was shining for the first half an hour. Then the heavy rain showed its power and 15 minutes later the sun was out again. Scottish weather is unpredictable.

When the sky was clear we continued to Rest and be Thankful pass with beautiful views of two valleys: Glen Croe on one side and Glen Kinglass on the other. If you want to see these majestic panoramas you need to take the road A83 which is a beautiful scenic road. But it doesn’t finish here. Road A82 through Glen Coe to the Loch Ness offers even more amazing Scotland landscape. We were driving along small and large lakes (called lochs in Scottish), grasslands and woods, hills and valleys. Every turn and corner offers another fascinating scene. Wild nature with small cute houses here and there, small villages, sheep, and fairytale lochs. Truly stunning.

After driving for a few hours and discovering Scotland breathtaking scenery we came to our home for the next three days. And it was a truly amazing place! We stayed at The Highland Club estate which we found via Booking.com. The place was a fortress three hundred years ago, then it was a monastery and today it is a complex of one hundred and nine apartments. It’s laying on the southern coast of the Loch Ness. Charming location with stunning architecture. So far Scotland is treating us very well. 🙂
